Analysis Of Bullies And Victims Revenge Revisited The...

The articles that I read for this assignment were â€Å"Bullies and Victims: Revenge Revisited†, â€Å"The Partner as Enemy†, and â€Å"Competition: Who’s the Greatest?†. Each one of these articles is an in-depth analysis on the human psyche, and each one gives the reader a chance to grapple with some of the bigger questions in life. These articles all talk about subject matter that should be relevant to the reader at one time or another in their life. As I read the articles more closely, a central theme began to emerge. That, through a fixed mindset, one is unable to make the changes necessary to better one’s self. That one is unable to truly move forward with becoming a better person until one loses that way of thinking. The first text I will be†¦show more content†¦She had to accept the fact that what her mother did wasn’t something that she could control, however what she could control was being a much more open minded and loving daughter. And through this change in thinking she was able to â€Å"[experience] a tremendous sense of growth† which allowed her to let go of her bitterness and to let the relationship grow and prosper once more. The point she makes with this is that, even though blame is an effective defense mechanism against risk and embarrassment, that it creates a whole new set of problems. That only through a growth mindset can one effectively identify problem areas in relationships and work together with one’s partner to fix them. The second text that I read is titled â€Å"Competition: Who’s the Greatest?†. In this text, Dweck talks about a problem that she believes is prevalent in many relationships. Competition. She talks about the personal experiences of two different people and how competition made their relationships more confident, and ultimately, more difficult to maintain. She explains that although a good healthy relationship should contain a little frien dly competition, too much can certainly be a bad thing. The first person she talks about is someone named Susan. Dweck explains that Susan’s boyfriend was jealous and insecure, and that this led him to constantly compare himselfShow MoreRelatedStephen P. Robbins Timothy A.
